Removing A Deleted Blog From Search Engine Cache

Removing A Deleted Blog From Search Engine Cache
Saturday, May 09, 2009

I've advised bloggers a few times that your blog is forever. This is generally, but not always, good news. One case, when it's not good news, is when the contents say something about us that we don't want to be publicly known. Sometimes, we panic, and make the wrong decision about how to resolve our problem.
I had to get rid of my blog, because of my employer, so I deleted it. But when I Google for my name, the first thing that pops up is my blog, and my profile.
Deleting your blog, as I've written before, needs to be done with care and forethought. If your blog is cached, the cache has to be managed properly, before the actual blog contents can be removed from the blog host (ie, Blogger).

You can manage your blog's cache, in the Google search engine, using Google Webmaster Tools. If you just deleted your blog, this won't be possible. You're going to have to re publish your blog, add it to Google Webmaster Tools, then use the Google Webmaster Tools "Remove URLs" wizard to instruct Google to remove it from their cache. This is just another detail that you should consider, before deleting the blog in the first place.

PSP Lord of Arcana (Personal) Review

It's the day I decided to stop wasting time on it. The last boss I engaged was Hecatoncheir after Chapter 7.

It is such a waste of time, that even blogging about it is wasting time. Why do I blog about it? So I can stop complaining to Girl, and I can do better stuff like blog, play SCII or just go watch porn.

Why did I play it till Chapter 7 then? erm besides spending S$50 on the original game thinking it's from Square Enix, the makers of Final Fantasy, I guess it's a human comfort zone thing lol.

It's Final Fantasy wanabe Monster Hunter 3. I should post the preview videos for MH3 and put Square Enix to shame, have they lost their touch? Bloody owner at the corner on the 4th or 5th floor of Funan was like, yea it's like MH. I got it before they were closing for the New Year and I could even hear his unspoken thought: you want, you take, I make like $5 from you and I want to go home for reunion dinner. I saw the game by Square, recalled fond memories and nightmares of being addicted to their Final Fantasy series, opened my wallet, took out $50 and had a $1 change.

Why do I compare it with MH? Because they are copying the elements of MH and failed very badly.

Overall Game Play
I don't even know where to begin. There is no balance in the game, hardly a good story line, no... systematic approach to the creation of new weaponry and armour. That part is always the gamer's addictive part, here, it's just plain confusing and annoying and a total random feel. Heck, there isn't even any fycking explanation for the fycking icons!

Weaponry & Armory
At the start its damn confusing. It's mix and match, and to access the boss info so you know what to prepare, you need to go to the Village girl, access your encyclopedia, go back to the armourer, remember which icon it was for which boss or quest target, and consider.... Making a new weapon or upgrading an existing one, mostly new ones appear after the completion of a chapter.

I really don't know where the guys on Youtube got their, say Vermillon Armour set, cause it never appeared. In fact, there were no armour sets that appeared for me. In MH2, different sets of armour were used to specific purposes to overcome specific boss's abilities, eg, being immune to the roar of the Tigrex or the.. scream of the Purple bird. And it was kept in a nice chest next to the bed in your house, with a nice bed and a kitchen behind.

Stats & Cards
It's confusing because I don't know if a +20 to attack is better than a +2 damage to beast. I took the +20. Then, there's the armour. And the boss 'cards'. I only managed to get the 1st boss card Agni, in like Chapter 5 or 6, because I simply didn't need it, didn't have the money for it, or when I had the money for it, it was all spent on potions. Unbalanced.

Money
Here's the value of money is enhanced. The quests and bosses do so much damage, and a potion restores like a mosquito's penis length of health. So you go for the Hi-Potion, which costs 550. The fastest farming quest is in Chapter 1, from my level 52 till Chapter 7. It takes about 3 minutes to make 2000. Then there's the cost of making new weapons, armour, or to enhance.

I totally get farming, I understand money is never enough but it's just plain super fycking irritatingly unbalanced.

I'm not done!

Quest and Fight Interface: BORING
Items are glowing green or red, red being the better items. Super Boring? Mobs are just walking around, the Minotaurs are masterbating each other with their axe, to engage them, ''touch them'' and zoom, load... FF fight interface. Borrrring.

In MH, you can fish from the sea, herbs are gathered amongst the grass, meat is gathered from some animals. Eggs are obtained from nests, you can also gather honey from honeycombs, heck even dung from the ground behind the cow in your farm. The mobs scream and get excited and charge you as you gather, it's intuitive, real time and... I miss the game :(

Lord of Arcana is all about grinding. Repeating quests to get enough guild points because the makers ran out of ideas, repeating quests to get money because it is unbalanced and the makers ran out of ideas, repeating quests to get 'Cores', which occurs in totally random blinking areas of your quest, so good luck say, if you ever need a Lich core.

Boss Fights
The super irritating part? They don't die when you do enough damage to them. Here, you need to engage them in a 'melee duel'. Assuming you are actually awake by then, it's about pressing X, O, triangle or square in the order the screen appears. If you miss one single button, good luck to you.

Chances are the 'boss' runs away, you are probably out of potions, that... Mosquito's penis length of killing him, and now, you have to find him all over the place, all over again, and hit him enough to engage the 'melee duel' interface.

Oh, you might have a chance to killl him after 10 tries, that's if he doesn't already one shot you. In Lord of Arcana, you have 2 lives. Maybe I suck. I love pussies. Revive #1, you can't even move out of the way without being one shot again.

I totally understand rage mode, boss one shotting us. Give us a chance to run at least or to fight back, especially when you were just that close.

Summary
Need I say more? Well, fine. If you've played MH before, chances are, you have, don't waste your time, even if Square pays you to play it. Erm, this part I take back.

It's probably more suited for those below 10years old, who don't know what to expect in a game, even then I can already hear them...

Mommy I want a new game......

Maconfyckion - My Review of Mac Vs Windows

and this had to be the post to trigger the start of blogging again. About time : )

I wished I had written this post and I could read my own post so I'd never explore with macshit.

and I never, ever want to run or see another Mac OS platform again. Sure, it might be great for some, but in the 1 week trial of it... sigh, was nothing more than frustrating.

Or perhaps, I wasn't as adaptive as I thought, I sure am experimental, often to much, much regret I hadn't started in the first place.

Today was really the limit, then I realised it was also how Girl actually named her files that cannot be read of a Windows platform, namely why the fyck she had to name folders with a * or a /.

So, maconfyckion, a new term I coined.

Perhaps trying to figure out, back up and install Windows on a Macbook mid 2009 model and trading on the Fujitsu isn't a great idea.

The Mac is designed for simplicity, things to be dumped into a Main folder and let the PC do the work, for organisers, people who likes their shit in a certain way in a certain format, I wouldn't recommend the Mac

First, the 'explorer'.

On the iMac, every fycking screen you click on is tinsy weensy on the 27'' iMac, and I remember editing every folder to the format that I'm used to. EVERY FOLDER. There is a set default view, but it does not work that well in my experience.then, you got to change the size, say if you choose the thumbnail icon view for most folders, but the settings keep running away from the other, say, picture files. So I had to change the size for a folder with 10 pics, and the folder with 100 pics. Not to mention if I were to add or delete files from that folder.

Pictures

Pictures! the default program is iphuuutoo. What does it do? Show you one picture at a time (unless you highlight or Ctrl-A). Else, it duplicates the files that you already have in your HD. Whatever the fyck for? I sure missed a simply preview and the right click button to see the next picture. Arrr.... the simplicities now.

So for a guy that loves and has to organise his shit... tsk tsk. In organising, I am very used to, and need to see the master folders clearly, Mac has that but it differs greatly from Windows. Talk about that, copy and paste

Copy and Paste

Is not a function that Mac is versed to, though it can. What happens is that you have to copy the file, find the destination folder again (most times, Idky now), paste, then go back (find the original folder again, cause it switched from destination, most times unlike Windows) and get rid of the file you want moved. and imagine... oh wait, iTunes

iTunes

Well this got nothing to do with Mac, but for people are want to group their own folders and singers, uncheck the let iTunes organise music. What it does it put another copy into the default music folder located in iTunes, sorts itself according to the artist, and album name. So if I had originally one folder as... forget it, waste of time. Uncheck that if you want to organise and don't want duplicates all over the place, not to mention on iTunes and the ! marks popping up on songs.

The Desktop

Everytime you move your mouse, the fycking screen disappears and the whole bunch of your applications are splat all over the screen like bird shit. It looks cool, mactechny and all, but omg, for a trader, it means having to look for that one application pop off window, in the middle of all your other applications, and it is always in different places. Shudder.

Videos

There's VLC, but it is laggy on Mac, and there is always a loss of sound in most movie files. Not to mention out of so many formats, there are many the Mac does not handle that well.

Utorrent

Function to select files and folders to be DL are gone, so basically you have to DL all the shity txt files and Idkwhatnfo are for files.

Documents

There's the transfer of files with other users, (like WINDOWS users), work, and Mac and Windows are different OS running on different file systems, namely the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and NTFS respectively. One can read the other, one can copy from the other, but cannot edit, one can edit and copy... Spent whole morning and afternoon and night.. Whole day trying to figure that out.

Plug and Play

and I miss this function so much, plug, play, drivers locate, install, voila, done. With Mac, was finding the right program, clicking on it, finding it through the Installer, running it, looking for application folder, than looking for the relevant icon you just installed.

Conclusion: if you are Windows based for more than 10 years, better to stick to it.

Starhub Services You Might Come Across (13 September 2010)

24 September 2010: No reply.

We called up 1633 today, almost a month after we applied to the Starhub Home Hubbing Pack, repeated postphoning, and still, there was no appointment scheduled for today, Friday, 24 September 2010 in your system. They scheduled it to 25 September 2010, Saturday 11am – 1pm, lets see then.

They must have so many complain emails that mails I sent on behalf of, out keep bouncing back, hence the resend.

Subject: Re: Feedback from New Starhub Client (22nd August 2010)

On the 22nd August 2010, we applied for a new Starhub TV plan along with Internet at Vivo City. We were served by Novern (in short) at about 8pm after an almost 2 hour wait.

During our conversation, he tried his best to answer all our queries, but he wasn't very sure himself on the packages that Starhub had, we were confused as we were told different prices, then $29.96, but later on, after we left, we received numerous messages and phone calls from him throughout driving and our late dinner. The end result at 2130 hrs was that we had to buy one more group of TV to meet the minimum package of $29.96. We were patient, friendly, and I believed, very kind to be understanding as we could tell he is still new.

Then to our horror we realised that the split adapter given to us was the wrong type. Worse, the modem had no wireless capability which we already mentioned we needed for a tenant. My daughter had to get her friend down and spend a Sat to troubleshoot getting a separate wireless modem.

We also ported our old Singtel number to Starhub trusting in your service as well, and was told it wld take a week. Then it was postphoned to 3 Sept. But before I left for HK, I also received many calls from Novern as he had left out a form for me to sign. I was kind enough to have him email me, and I scanned, signed and emailed back to him. But when I got back, the line was not activated, this time Starhub said it will send someone down this Fri 17/9/10.

We have already explained the phone is very important to us as my mother has dementia and needs to call us every now and then.

Finally, still patient, my daughter’s bf sent Novern an sms on Sunday to check what was going on. Then yesterday, he sent another when he did not get a reply. This is the same person we helped, as a customer to expedite his end, the same person who ignored us completely when we had questions. The best part? We were told that we can contact him should we need any help.

We decided to write in as of 13th Sept 2010 as there had been no replies despite promises.

The questions were:
  1. They were in HK from the 30 Aug – 8 Aug, can Starhub extend the trial SCV period for another week since they missed the trial period?
  2. We have a Eu Yan Sang $50 voucher that we forgot to claim, how may we do so?
  3. What is going on with the porting of number?
  4. We would like to change one group to CNBC.
All the service providers talk about customer service all the time, but until then, talk is just talk. This had been a really unpleasant experience especially for a new customer. If it were you, reading this, or any of your friends experiencing this, how would you feel? We also need to spend time and energy thinking back of what happened, composing and sending you this email, not sure if we will get any reply, instead of enjoying our cable tv. Such horrendous customer service does not reflect well upon the company, do you agree?

As such, we would like to terminate all services with Starhub and go with our old service provider who don’t give us such problems. Please advise if Starhub can waive off the early termination fees. My daughter’s bf will be our point of contact, he is contactable at...

Thank you.

of Luggages and having it all

Finally picked up the... Damn I forgot and it doesn't really matter series 29" luggage at Suntec after my last trip to UK, few years back. Ok, it is the X Blade Series, Spinner, 80cm or close to 32''

Spent $480 on it, black one! It was a good buy, a difficult decision, where apparently I'm not a decisive person I thought I was, as usual ending up confusing myself with all the different series, prices and before promotion prices to gauge the value of the luggage.

Summary of the end mind block and confusion:  the practical side of me thought, a luggage is a rugged item, that is thrown about behind the check in scenes, that is at most, seen in the hotel room, mostly in the store room, and transported from cab to airport, from airport to hotel, and from hotel back to airport.

1. What's on your mind?
An executive set, one big one for travels up to 2 weeks and winter wear, if necessary and one cabin size luggage.

Does it have to be a set?
Actually think about it, no, for the short travels would be independent of the long travels, fuck I don't even travel that often. So it doesn't have to be a set.

2. Black label series
Whilst series sets, are nice to see and have, we were lucky to meet Peter, who very patient with me, gently reminded and dropped some hints in his capacity as a sales person. I said we are paying for the brand, and he said that the material, I think he said armoured nylon, better material and finishing for a executive look, apart from that, hmm. Capacity isn't as big as the one we chose.

Meaning, nice is nice, practical is better, to me, buying a nice looking set may attract unwanted attention from unwanted people, it will still be scratched, thrown about, and will still wear and tear from it's showroom condition.

The former me would have paid $770 for the nicer looking series, felt stupid, and still go for it anyway.

3.Hard Vs Soft cases.

You can't have it all! Yes of course hard cases are more durable, but the capacity inside is very limited, and we cannot pack more stuff inside compared to a soft luggage which may be able to squeeze in that last minute shopping.

Soft cases, depending on the series, can be tough, made of polymide (if I remember), with a mixture of polyester.

Xion series was heavy, Pro DLX II even heavier, but a worthy buy at $372 from over $970, my original intention. But it was too heavy! about 6kg, lucky I didn't buy in impulse from the Funan sales guy.

4. Choice of Layout

One was designed that the luggage was split into two, another was a one sided compartment. Tendency would be for the one sided compartment to 'crush in' when weight is on top of the luggage, but it is ok, it doesn't happen that often, all I need to do is to stack it on top when storing it.

A one sided compartment, with organised toiletry compartment on the other side, with one more extra compartment below it, is much more suited for an organised person like me. The sales person said if you don't like your things to move around and like to be neat, take the one-sided one. Girl knew that was the one for me, she always knows such things, even having a feel of what my father would need, want, and is his for a carrying document/laptop bag but alas, it was over $400.

Anyway it turned out, it was more over a $100 more expensive, the 2-sided one was only $336.00.

Trying to save, made me want to go for it, lucky Girl knew me so well, and she was right, had we bought it, I would keep thinking about it and regretting that decision.

So, one hour later, Girl paid for the luggage and left, I gave many thanks to Peter for his patience and staying with us though the boutique had closed at 9pm.

We can't have it Cheap, Fresh, complete with big Tits, the hokkien saying goes. ^^

How to Decide How Much to Reveal About Yourself

A Penelope Trunk Article

People ask me all the time how I can be so honest about my life in my blog. They want to know how I can write about marriage, sex, abortions, or running out of money over and over again. It’s an endless list really, of the stuff I write about that people can't believe I’m writing about.

But each of you has a list of things in your life similar to that, it's just a list you don’t want to talk about. I’m not special—I don’t have more stuff that is difficult to talk about. I just have more difficulty not talking about difficult stuff.

This is why.

I'm going to start by telling you that I was at the World Trade Center when it fell. I was in a post-traumatic stress support group afterward. People were divided into groups of ten based on their experience at the site—how bad things were for you that day. I was in a group comprised mostly of people who narrowly escaped the building before it fell and, as they were running out of the building, were splattered by body parts from people who were jumping out of the building.

We had individual therapy as well. Here’s what my therapist said to me: “Your childhood was so terrible that your experience at the World Trade Center was nothing compared to what you experienced as a kid. Your post-traumatic stress therapy needs to focus on your childhood.”

That was the first time I really had a sense of how bad my childhood had been. I knew everyone in the world thought things at the World Trade Center were terrible. So this must mean that my childhood was really terrible.

I was 34.

When I was five, I knew something was not right. That’s when I started therapy. I was never totally sure why my parents were sending me.

When I was seven I knew something was not right because the neighbor came over to our house when my parents were smashing picture frames over each others’ head. The neighbor said to me and my little brother, “Come with me.”

Then my memories get blurry. The next thing I remember is my high school homeroom teacher. I skipped a day of school and then came to school with a black eye and a note from my dad that said I had been sick. She said that she was not accepting notes from my dad anymore. She said I could not come back to school the next time I miss a day unless I called the police.

I don’t remember what I thought when she said that. Except that I thought, “Does she know what’s going on at my house? How does she know? I never told her anything.”

I remember the next time my dad beat me up though. I called the police and they came. Like always. And my dad said nothing was wrong. Like always. And then the police started to leave. Like always.

But then I said, “Hold it. Wait. My teacher won’t let me back in school unless I get a note from you that says I called you.”

I don’t remember what else happened. I remember the police asking me if I want to leave. I remember my mom saying, “Yes. Please. Take her away. Please.”

I went to my grandma’s to live. I spent all of high school living at my grandma’s. The school social worker spent the rest of high school trying to convince me that my parents did something wrong. My grandma spent the rest of high school telling me that my parents were completely irresponsible. Except at family gatherings. When my parents were there, with my three brothers, and everyone pretended that everything was normal and that I did not live at my grandma’s.

I don’t remember very much. I went to college and spent my time trying to sort things out: abusive boyfriends, bulimia, anti-depressants, and cutting. Getting nearly straight-A’s for a lot of the time. I sorted very little out.

I went to a mental ward the summer of my senior year. My parents visited me. They told me they were happy I was in the mental ward. My extended family visited me and they did not mention my parents. No one talked about why I might be there. My parents were anxious and loud in the family meetings: Begging the doctors to keep me from going back to their house. But even the doctors could not quite figure out why I was there: I worked on my senior thesis, I was a model patient, and I started dating a doctor right after that.

After I graduated, I moved back to Chicago, where he lived and so did my parents. I couldn’t figure out how to support myself and there were so many opportunities for me to try nude modeling jobs. The doctor thought it was ridiculous. He thought I was too uptight to model. I said I probably was, but I wanted to try because it was such good money. I said they first test you out in a swimsuit.

He said, “Don’t you need some sample photos?”

I said, “Yeah. I have some,” and I pulled them out of my bag.

The doctor looked. He smiled. He said, “Who took them?”

I said, “My dad.”

The doctor flipped. He went nuts. He couldn’t believe it.

I was mostly surprised. I had no idea that my dad taking the photos was weird.

That I didn’t know it was weird made the doctor even more upset. I remember trying to figure out why I thought it was okay. Or why he thought it was not okay.

I was 22.

I didn’t tell anyone about the pictures. I started having nightmares about having sex with my parents. I started not being able to sleep. I didn’t tell anyone though. Because I thought I was crazy.

Then my dad visited me a few years later, when I lived in Los Angeles. He wanted to go camping. I went. I was so nervous about being alone with him that I read almost all of One Hundred Years of Solitude before I went into the tent.

Then he took off his clothes, down to his underwear, and snuggled up next to me, with his arms around me and his penis up against my back.

Then I knew.

Or I thought I knew.

I slept outside the tent. I didn’t talk the rest of the time. I don’t think he even noticed.

I know the street in Los Angeles we were parked on when I finally asked, “Dad, did you do sexually inappropriate things with me when I was younger?”

He said, “Yes.”

I had no memory of what, exactly, he did. I still have no memory of it. And I was scared to ask him more. I asked my mom the same question. She gave me the same answer.

Both parents have said they were sorry. But that is not my point. My point is that my childhood was ruined by secrets.

In hindsight, so many people kept the secret: my family, the police, teachers before my freshman year. Decades later, when I asked my high school friends what they thought of me in high school, two of them told me that everyone thought I was nuts coming to school beaten up so often.

I’m not kidding when I say that I thought I was keeping that a secret.

So what I’m telling you here is that I’m scared of secrets. I’m more scared of keeping things a secret than I am of letting people know that I’m having trouble. People can’t believe how I’m willing to write about my life here. But what I can’t believe is how much better my life could have been if it had not been full of secrets.

So today, when I have a natural instinct to keep something a secret, I think to myself, “Why? Why don’t I want people to know?” Because if I am living an honest life, and my eyes are open, and I’m trying my hardest to be good and kind, then anything I’m doing is fine to tell people.

That’s why I can write about what I write about on this blog.

And when you think you cannot tell someone something about yourself, ask yourself, “Really, why not?”
