of Well-Known Duck Rice and Attitudes

To Lady behind the counter: How much for a person?

Lady: $6.50
Me: Why are your stuff more and more expensive?
(it was $3.00 some years like not that long ago? > <)
Lady: (give me weird look, in a trying to be friendly tone) you ask me how much right? You ask me how much right?

(i know i'm deaf i just don't like your fuck face when u said it)
Me: it's ok (walked off, saying fuck you in my mind)
Lady: (as I walked off) it's $6.50 including drinks.

Me: Had Yang Chow Fried Rice at $3, probably 3 times the portion, just at the other end and two Red bull drinks from the provision shop for $1.80.

Perhaps I took it as an attitude problem, their duck rice, known to many Singaporeans, is also known to be a rip off with measly meat. There isn't anything fancy about it, just a different taste once on a while. At times depending on what we ordered, it can cost over $50 for 4 people (a single portion was like $3 then).

1. People have choices.

I hate it when people try to rip others off, and even in the process make others feel that ''If you can't afford it, don't buy it''. Perhaps it was the pride in me, albeit its uselessness, that sometimes gave me a ''ok, fine, I can afford to be ripped off and I don't want any hassle'.

Was being the key word. Broke at the moment being the present word.

2. Even if we can afford it, doesn't mean we have to eat there.

I could feel the mindset of the place, formerly thriving and prosperous, but losing a lot of market share as time went by.

However, the packed lunch time crowd still looked like it did suffice for them.

Should have just sat down and wait to be served.
