Guan Yu 关羽

I have no idea why the modern mafia and the police in Asia worship him so much, yes, it is for his fierce loyalty, though if they understand the actual history, he was the direct cause of Zhuge Liang's failure in the Northern Campaigns later, having lost the vital grounds of Jing Zhou due to his pride.

There are much more brilliant men in strategy, like Zhuge Liang, who have already won the war before it began, and well known warriors like Zhao Yun, who does not lose out to Guan Yu in his loyalty.

This version of Guan Yu portrayed much more prideful in the new series

Chapter 23/24

Known for his loyalty to Liu Bei.

The original 3 Kingdoms version Guan Yu
Initial Beheading of an enemy general which brought Liu Bei Fame
After Cao Cao took over the city of Xu Zhou, with Guo Jia's advice and knowledge of Guan Yu's personality, Zhang Liao managed to convince Guan Yu to come over to Cao Cao's side as a temporary measure, knowing his character of 'rather death than surrender'.

Whilst with Cao Cao, he was constantly given feasts, a small feast every 3 days, and a big feast every 5 days. Not to mention gifts of gold, a mansion, even a score of 10 beautiful women at his beckon, all to which Guan Yu did not forget his brotherhood and oath at the Peach Garden.

He even gave Lu Bu's Chi Tu Horse, Red Hare, the priced fastest horse known to Guan Yu, not even to his son Cao Pi, who has been asking for it for years.

When Yuan Shao finally made up his mind to attack Cao Cao, his generals Wen Chou and Yan Liang were fierce generals that made sneak attacks on the Cao camp. Yan Liang killed 3 of Cao's generals, and to repay Cao's kindness to him, Guan Yu slaughtered Yan Liang in a flash of an eye.

In the show, Cao's generals Xu Huang and Zhang Liao dueled Wen Chou, who wanted revenge for his brother Yan Liang 2 on 1 to no avail, when Guan Yu showed up, his Red Hare jumped over Wen Chou and sent his Dragon Sabre thrusting down to Wen Chou's chest, ending his life.

Crossing of 5 stations and slaying of 6 generals

When he heard that Liu Bei was alive, he hurried to him with his wife, a journey that would take them from Cao Cao's lands to Yuan Shao's for many miles, along the way crossing 5 stations and slaying 6 generals who did not allow him to pass.

At the last station, although he had killed Cao Cao's men, Cao Cao personally travelled up to him and gave him a documentation pass. He seemed to have left it out on purpose initially, hoping that Guan Yu will get killed, depicting his dilemna in his admiration to let the tiger return to its lair and appreciation for his loyalty.

The brothers were reunited.
